Anita Saarkessian

Anita Sarkeesian is a Canadian-American feminist media critic as well as a public speechwriter. She founded Feminist Frequency the website which provides commentary and videos on depictions of women's roles in popular media. Anita Sarkeesian, a Canadian-American blogger and media critic who has been awarded awards for her work, is a feminist blogger. Feminist Frequency examines the way women are represented in the pop culture. Aiming to dispel the myths of women that exist in pop media, she is also working with issues that relate to the targeted harassment women and other classes of people on the internet. A graduate in the field of political and social thinking at York University Sarkeesian is also well-known as a sought-after presenter and has presented speech at the TEDxWomen Festival as well as the United Nations' Broadband Working Group on Gender. While a student at university, Sarkeesian became interested in the issues surrounding gender and rights for women in the early stages. The ambitious lady planned to start a web-based series that would examine gender representation in video games. She was the subject of an online harassment campaign. But the assault did not deter her instead it was a boost to her determination as a feminist media critic. She has won several awards for her contributions to the cause of feminism. Anita Sarkeesian, a media journalist who has received many awards, and also founded Feminist Frequency, an educational organization that focuses on the way women are depicted in popular culture narratives.
