Allison Chinchar, a CNN as well as HLN meteorologist with CNN and HLN. She is often featured on CNN's HLN Weekend Express and CNN International's HLN New Day Weekend. Before being hired by CNN in the summer of 2015 she was a meteorologist at local stations in Atlanta, Nashville, and Chattanooga, Tennessee. She's reported on all kinds of weather events, including hurricanes, blizzards, flooding events, and wildfires, receiving an Emmy nomination for her coverage of Hurricane Dorian which struck the Bahamas in 2019. Then she covered her coverage of the Super Tornado Outbreak of April 2011, where more than 350 tornadoes hit in the Southeastern United States in just four days. Over 200 occurring on April 27th, alone. Because of her training in the field of environmental science, she's also reported on volcanoes, earthquakes and other natural catastrophes and the stories of climate change. Chinchar holds a bachelor's degree in Science in Atmospheric Science. She graduated from The Ohio State University. Chinchar is also a member of the American Meteorological Society, the Canadian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society and the National Weather Association, and the International Association of Broadcast Meteorology.
